There's a brand new neighbor on Sesame Street.

It's time to meet Zari, the show's first Afghan Muppet, who will debut on season five of Baghch-e-Simsim, the Afghan version of the famous children's program.

She's a six-year-old girl who will be featured in segments about "girls' empowerment, national identity, physical health and social and emotional wellbeing," according to a press release. Saad Mohseni, the president of the MOBY group, which runs Afghanistan's TOLO TV, LEMAR TV and Kaboora Production, says that the team is "delighted" to introduce the new character.
